To cultivate environmental awareness among the children and to inspire them to make a change for the future of their communities, LU-MUN Holding launched an art competition with a theme of environmental protection and preservation. Eight children living in Yenikend village, Neftchala joined the competition. The participants displayed their artworks, and all of them were awarded certification for successful participation. The winners received cash prizes.

In April 2021, the IDEA Public Association and the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan jointly held an annual countrywide Green Marathon campaign. The campaign is aimed at contributing to an increase in plant biodiversity of the country by planting trees during the spring-autumn planting season, as well as to environmental protection and awareness on the protection of green spaces.

On Earth Day in 2021, “Azerbaijan Fish Farm” coordinated a volunteer-based coastal clean-up initiative, to clean the beach from the litter. Debris items such as cigarette butts, plastic food wrappers, plastic beverage bottles, plastic grocery bags, and other waste were removed by the volunteers. Elshad Majidov – representative of “Azerbaijan Fish Farm” team gave a talk about current environmental issues, and the responsibility of the local communities in protecting our planet. Celebration of the Earth Day ended with a farm tour and a Q&A session about pressing environmental issues concerning marine life and fish farming.

We held a brief session for the schoolchildren in Yenikend village of Neftchala about the pressing environmental issues, and the communities’ role in reducing the negative impacts on the environment. Children were informed about the roles they can play in their community to increase awareness about the consequences of environmental degradation for their village. We engaged the children in discussion about responsible consumption, water scarcity, waste collection, and biodiversity preservation.

As soon as the war was over, “Azerbaijan Poultry Company” immediately started a tree-planting campaign in the region to revive and rejuvenate it. The campaign purports to plant one tree for every hour of the 44-day war, which amounts to planting 1056 trees in total.

Azerbaijan Fish Farm initiates and successfully implements the program that aims to increase the population of sturgeons in the Caspian. 10 sturgeon fingerlings are released to the sea for each caviar jar sold. Currently, 10,000 sturgeon juveniles have already been released.
